"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'  Matt 25:37-40 (NIV)

Allow the Holy Spirit to Guide Your Holiday Sprit

Are you looking for the perfect gift for the man in your life? This holiday make sure one man you include is Jesus Christ and his wish list that you feed him, clothe him, visit him and care for him.  The dizzy busyness of the holidays are upon us and if we’re not careful, the holiday spirit can squeeze out the Holy Spirit.  There are a number of opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ by serving those in need.  Here are just a few that take little time & resources, but will make a difference;

  • Go shopping for a resident at Lexington Court.  There’s a list of needed items in the commons area or you can call Rita Gregory at 261-0337 to see what is needed most.
  • Join the Cambridge family on Wednesday, December 19th at 6 PM as we go Christmas caroling at nearby nursing homes and the houses of family members who need to know the Body of Christ cares about them.  We’ll begin with a chili dinner at no charge.
  • Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, December 24th at 6:00 p.m.  Join the Cambridge Family and feel the warm friendly atmosphere as we gather together and remember family, friends, and traditions.
  • Spend just one hour serving the seniors & shut-ins at Lexington Court on the 4th Sunday of each month. On December 23rd we will be passing out Christmas presents, serving cake and singing carols to several folks who receive little outside contact.
  • Designate a portion of your giving at Cambridge to ISH (Interfaith Services of Henrico).  Our church belongs to this group of caring men & women who screen requests to make sure money for food, heat, clothing, shelter etc. goes to those in need.
  • Open your eyes to all the needs around you.  There are buckets and boxes galore that allow you to return a portion of your blessings.  Pray that this year, you make a difference in both your life and the life of Christ, by serving “the least of these…”

For 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering!  During the month of December we will be collecting our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  Last year’s amazing giving was over $6,500!  It was twice the goal!  As you begin to think about your gift this year, remember that every penny you give goes to support overseas missions.  Nothing is kept for stateside or administrative purposes.  Your gift goes to support 5,338 missionaries serving in almost every country in the world.  Your gift will be used to help share the good news with a lost world.

 Join The Celebration of The Greens at 5 PM, December 2nd

Underneath the glitz and gaudiness, overbooked schedules and over-stretched bank accounts, there's a true meaning to Christmas.  Please join your Cambridge family for this wonderful time of celebrating the true meaning of the holidays.  Better yet, invite your unchurched and unsure friends to this pleasant celebration followed by a light supper.

Peru Project Update:   Over the past several weeks John McKenzie, George Fleshman and Jim Riddell have been meeting with a team from Grace Community Baptist Church to develop the strategy that will guide our efforts in 2008.  That document should be available soon, If you would like to see a copy, talk to George Fleshman. Please begin praying about the possibility of going.  We expect to send six teams during the year.  Most of the trips will be about a week to ten days in length.  Go ahead and start applying for your passport.  Let us know if you need instructions on how to get a passport. Jim will be traveling to Peru for a short trip December 8-13.  He and three others will be working on details related to planning the first couple of trips.  We want to make sure everything is in place before the teams start arriving in Peru.  Some people have been asking how they can contribute to the ministry in Peru.  Simply write a check and indicate on the envelop that it is for "Peru Project".   Pray that God will use us to lead people in Peru to Jesus Christ!
